MADHYA PRADESH

As well as being India’s second largest state, with a population of 72 million, Madhya Pradesh, is also one of India’s poorest states. Levels of severe acute malnutrition amongst young children are dangerously high, for many reasons: insufficient access to food and clean water; unhealthy environments; and low awareness of important childcare practices, such as the importance of breastfeeding in the fight against malnutrition.

Action Against Hunger currently works in Dhar district and exited its program in Burhanpur in December 2017.

BURHANPUR

Action Against Hunger / Action Against hunger worked in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh from 2011 to 2017. Lying on the southernmost region of Madhya Pradesh and bordering Maharashtra, Burhanpur presented a high prevalence of malnutrition among children under 5 years of age.
